See how fucking stupid that sounds? See how fucking stupid YOU sound when you say that it’s wrong for white guys/girls to have dreadlocks? See how much of a racist asshole you are? This whole “cultural appropriation” trend is BULLSHIT. ANYONE can wear/do/dress HOWEVER they want. It’s called being an inclusive, diverse, and accepting society. But that’s right, I forgot - SJWs are NOT striving towards acceptance, because they are dense fuckwads who apparently don’t understand what equality means.

The difference, asshole, is that white people  have made laws against black people’s natural hairsaid black people’s hair is unprofessional, continue to make rules against natural black hair, fire black people for their for their natural hair, threatened black children with expulsion for their natural hairassaulted black people for their hair etc

When you experience that kind of abuse and racism for the way your hair naturally grows out of your head, OF COURSE you’re going to straighten your hair or wear a weave or wig so you can stay in school, keep a job, not get attacked, etc. Forced assimilation is not the same as cultural appropriation. Also plenty of black and other non-white people are born with straight hair, so it is not a uniquely white thing lol that’s just ridiculous.

Cultural appropriation is an anthropological concept supported by decades of research and there are over a quarter million scholarly books and articles discussing it in academic fields as varied as anthropology, sociology, history, law, political science, social psychology and philosophy, not an ‘SJW’ thing.

Cultural appropriation is “taking intellectual property, traditional knowledge, cultural expressions, or artifacts from someone else’s culture without permission … when the source community is a minority group that has been oppressed or exploited in other ways.” -  from Who Owns Culture?: Appropriation and Authenticity in American Law by Fordham law professor Susan Scafidi

“Two ways in which cultural appropriation can be harmful are easily identified. The first sort of harm is violation of a property right … The second sort of harm is an attack on the viability or identity of the cultures or their members. Appropriation that undermines a culture in these ways would certainly cause devastating and clearly wrongful harm to members of the culture … Other acts of appropriation potentially leave members of a culture exposed to discrimination, poverty and lack of opportunity.” - from The Ethics of Cultural Appropriation (edited by Young and Brunk)

“This isn’t a matter of telling people what to wear. It’s a matter of telling people that they don’t wear things in a vacuum and there are many social and historical implications to treating marginalized cultures like costumes …  Cultural appropriation is itself a real issue because it demonstrates the imbalance of power that still remains between cultures that have been colonized and the ex-colonizers.” From The Difference Between Cultural Exchange and Cultural Appropriation

You wouldn’t know equality if it slapped you in the face, you ignorant asshole.

I will like to mention that you erased poc including some black people who actually were born with straight hair . Straight hair isn’t owned be white people #sosad #sonasty #lol #youtried #ewwll do better @alykinze You really shamed yourself Becky

SAY THAT AGAIN!!!!!

I love when white people get dragged intellectually.

uhh…

What the fuck is even wrong with hair?

Doesn’t someone have the right to do whatever the fuck they want with their own hair?

Learning how to style your hair in a certain way does not harm the culture in any way, as people who have a certain hair style which may have cultural origins do not do it to mock, demean or otherwise intend to harm the culture.

In fact, allowing people to have their own choices of hairstyle will help other cultures to not be disapproved of by mainstream society, as their hair choices are more likely to be accepted. However, if you start dictating what hairstyles people can and cannot have, the people who are told that they can have particular hairstyles are less likely to be accepted by the rest of society, as they are likely to stick out like a sore thumb if they do have that hairstyle, and their hairstyles are more likely to lead to informal harassment against them.

Ask yourself this: who owns someone’s hair apart from themselves? Just let people choose what hairstyle they want without getting so offended about their hair ffs.

it must be so nice to be a little privileged asshole. I didn’t read your entire paragraph because from the first couple lines you were wrong. the person above clearly said that black people couldn’t wear their hair natural because there’s rules and laws against it for looking “unprofessional”. people literally STILL to this day get fired and expelled for having their hair natural. so no, people CANT do whatever they want with their hairs when there’s laws against it. and the reason that they get so mad when white people copy black hairstyles is (besides the fact that y'all look so fucking ridiculous and tacky in dreads and braids), it’s because you guys don’t get shit for it the way they do, especially black women for fros and black men for braids. I see no reason for you to not get this concept into your empty head.
